Were you a latchkey kid?

I was a latchkey kid from an early age. I think I was 8 or 9 when I started going home after school by myself. I hated it, but that's what parents did.

My kids are not. I work from home and if I happen not to be here when they get home I likely will be shortly after they do. I know they can handle being home alone without me for a little bit. It's just not my comfort zone.

Apparently with the funding for after school programs being cut there is a new generation of latch key kids. The article below talks more about this. What do you think? Will your kids be coming home after school before you get home?
