Nosy People are So Annoying!

We live in a SMALL town... Like maybe 2,000 people-Maybe.. The cousins are trouble makers which to most of the town means my kids are trouble makers, too..
When we walk Andrew and Eva run ahead of the stroller, stop at the corner and wait.. Sometimes they turn around and run back and forth until I get to them, but they don't go farther than a block at a time and they don't do it downtown.
I had a cop meet me walking because of my 'unsupervised children'. He figured it was me. We walk pretty much the same route to the post office pretty much every day. They weren't even doing anything, getting in any lawn, they were on the sidewalk waiting for me watching ants. When they saw the sherriff they came running back and hid behind me. They were never out of my site.
So we had company walking to the post office and back home today.

my town is about 1000 people if we are lucky and my family has been here 20 plus years. Everyone knows me even though I don't know them. They will come up to me and they know all this stuff about my life and I'm like "who are you" lol

I know. People know who I am through my in laws.... that's even scarier since my husband's SIL is a witch... I'm used to the stereo-type since I grew up with it, that 'your last name isn't right so you don't belong', or 'older (cousin, sibling) is a brat so you must be too'.. (This is going to sound horrible, but I don't know how else to explain it.) The town I grew up in was probably 20k, but you could cut the tension with a knife between whites and hispanics... Now I'm on the other side of the tension. We are one of the 6 hispanic familes, and my hubby is only 1/4 Cuban... I feel so bad for some of the feelings I had when I was young and stupid.

Oh I totally understand! We live up in the mountains and my husband is one of two black people in the town we live in and on any of the towns around us. It gets old getting stared at and people pointing.

So much for manners, huh? Hubby never goes anywhere..they only know he is not German (most of the heritage here) because of the last name. It's horrible.

I like to think that people just don't realize what they are doing. It's better than thinking that they do it on purpose.

That's a good thought to think.
