Home Birth

I think I have read a few people comment that they have had a homebirth. My sister had an unassisted child birth in April, baby came too fast to go anywhere. I would love to have a homebirth if we are blessed again. We are still debating on the unassisted part, though.

I think it would be easier for many reasons, at least if you are comfortable with it. For me I think it would, because hospitals stress me. Nurses coming in every hour to see how I'm doing, residents or midwives constantly wanting to check me... I just gave in to get them to leave me alone. I would have my own bed, my own house, my own food... The place where I feel safe, comfortable and don't have to worry about making a loud noise and bothering somebody in the next room.

Feeling safe and comfortable during birth have been known to help ease the feeling of pain and ease your stress level making for an easier labor. But you do have to be comfortable in doing it. I would definitely beg my mom to come and stay with us to help out for a few weeks so I can rest and concentrate on baby.

So if you decide to think about a homebirth and have no idea where to start, here's a site to visit. First off you have to find an independent midwife that will come to your house, then go from there.

It's not for everybody. Everybody knows their limits. You need to be where you are comfortable giving birth, that is what is easier on you and baby. :)

We both worry because Andrew had problems during birth and at this point we feel like we need somebody here who knows what it looks like if baby is in distress or something is just not right. But I REALLY don't want to be back in a hospital because of a midwife who was a complete jerk. So I'm starting research now.

:( Sorry you had a high risk pregnancy. I was being monitored closely with Andrew. I completely understand situations like this. My views on birth and doctors has taken a 180 in the past four years.

I loved my three home births for all the reasons you listed. I felt completely comfortable with my midwife. She's done over 350 births in 17 years, was an EMT for 8 years, but not on an ambulance and was previously a Bradley childbirth educator. She is very knowledgeable.

I have been wanting to for two kids now. I'm really hoping if it's the route we go my mom can come up and help with the kids. My MIL is great...but when she comes over it's just like another kid to take care of..
She came over the weekend after Grace was born and didn't help...at all... Not even with the older two. I got lunch made, told Dennis I was tired and took the baby and laid down. I was so mad.
