Do you your toddler to drink soda?

At birthday parties/BBQ's, etc a variety of drinks are available for children and adults. In addition, in some cultures families drink coffee or tea with their young children with breakfast. Do you permit your toddlers to drink soda and/or caffeine?

My children will almost definitely drink tea as toddlers, and will likely get very small amounts of coffee as well. I'm not concerned with the caffeine as much as the sugariness. As strict as I *think* I might be with some things, I doubt soda will be one of those completely off the table drinks. I think it's fine in moderation, and treated like candy... like you said, at a birthday party or something.

However, not ONLY there, because I will not have it mentally linked with pleasure and celebration. I want my children to be so nonchalant about soda they could take it or leave it and don't put much thought into its consumption at all.

I don't like soda and I hope to not have my daughter drink any until she's older than 5. I think water is important to enforce, however juice watered down will be optional too. I love tea and coffee but I wont let my child have any until they're much older.

We do. I limit it but he still gets it. My 18 month old LOVES coffee and will even eat coffee beans if I don't catch him. He leans over the arm of the couch to drink my iced coffee even though he's not allowed too. I let him have a few drinks of it though. Coffee if done in moderation is actually good for you. So is tea.

We haven't permitted soda for Caz, we do enforce water and dilute his juices. Although caffeine is found in a variety of things like ice cream, chocolate, etc he's limited to indulging in sweets to just a little bit. We do allow him tea without caffeine. He's so energetic without the added caffeinated beverages lol :-). I was given coffee very young and drank it often with my grandmother who introduced me to it.
