I'm mostly scared because I know it will be painful and since I am 4 week away from my due date and knowing that I could go into labor at any time, I have been looking out for all the symptoms I could possibly have! I know that sometimes when I am sitting down and my baby is moving, I can feel her putting pressure on my cervix when she moves around! And I can feel her hiccups down there also( actually as I write this) my doctor said that my cervix is still closed but hiring the exam he could feel my baby's head. I'm also scared that I will be alone alone and not be able to reach anybody to take me to the hospital and I live on the 3 rd floor in a building that has no elevator. Yikes

Don't be scared. I know the feeling, but it will be easier on you if you don't focus on that. I know it sounds strange, but it completely worked when I had ,my youngest. Go through one contraction at a time, distract yourself in between. My husband and I will carry on the strangest conversations while I'm in labor because if you focus on the pain it will seem so much worse. Kissing helps. :D

It's all going to be fine. Look at it from a more positive way, since you are only 4 weeks away your baby should be healthy even if you had her today. I had mine at just shy of 35 weeks and she was fine :). Also since she's your first it will probably take awhile for you to have her, so even if you are alone you should have plenty of time to get ahold of somebody to get you to the hospital. Try to have a few people picked out in advance so they know that you may need them. If nothing else, it should at least make you feel better having plans in advance. For example, I have a specific person to call if I happen to go into labor while at work, vs if I am at home. When my water broke, I was alone and I also happened to live on the third floor of an apt building with no elevator, just like you. To make it worse, my mom, who was the one taking me to the hospital, was impossible to get a hold of lol. This was 11 yrs ago, she didn't have a cell phone then or call waiting on her home phone, I kept calling and it was busy! Finally after a few hours(my labor never started after my water broke) I ended up just driving myself to her house lol. I think the best thing you can do while you're waiting these last few weeks is to just get yourself organized. Make sure you have everything you need/want and have it all set up how you want it. Finalize any last minute things you need to do at your job if you work and finalize babysitters/daycare etc if you will be in need of that after maternity leave. Get the house cleaned, start preparing and freezing meals in advance. Spend some time doing things you enjoy, go out with your friends, etc, soon you won't have the time or the energy! I find that it helps to be doing something, not only does it help the time go by faster but it also gives your mind something else to focus on. After all your body will know what to do when the time comes! Good Luck!
