Unhealthy Eating Habits

Do any other mommas have problems getting their preschooler to eat right? My step daughter doesn't seem to want anything except chicken nuggets!! Her mother is very picky so I can see why but at our house me and my significant other promote healthy eating and finishing food when it's given to you and you have to try everything. How do you get your kids to eat fruits/veggies/anything unappealing to them? Our problem is we force her to stay at the table and she just stuffs everything in her cheeks and never swallows unless we take away things and even then its a struggle because she cries about it and throws fits. Anyone have suggestions?

My nine year old used to do that. I just told her, that's what's for supper. You don't want to eat, you go to bed hungry. I would take the plate away from her after so much complaining and seran wrap it. When she complained about being hungry, the plate came out of the fridge. It only took a few dinners for her to realize how serious I was.
I had to stop forcing her to stay at the table because she would stuff her mouth and then make herself sick and I don't want to clean that up.. So if she complains, she loses her plate.

I completely understand. I only have my daughter part time. And part of that time is at my parent's house because of distance. Your step daughter will pick up on before too much longer. It took Adrianna awhile to get used to the new rules... We get her for long stints a few times a year and I give her a day or two grace period to adjust-she still gets in trouble, but not near as bad... It's hard on them to go back and forth especially when the rules are at polar opposites.
