Elimination Communication

You may have caught some of Taylor's posts of her journey in potty training her daughter Avery. Well, this article goes into "Elimination Communication" and when I attempted it with some of mine, I swear my mil thought I was nuts. But I pressed on knowing it works. I wasn't perfect with it all but a couple of ours were trained right around the 18 month mark, early for me, though not as early as my mom had us trained.

Are you on the lunatic side or the positive parenting side when it comes to the concept of elimination communication?

I'm not sure that I have a side in this debate. I think you have to do what works for your family. This works great for some people, and others just prefer not to try it.

I don't think I have the patience for something like that, to be honest. That said, I do think that there is a point in a child's life where they stop paying attention to the signals their body gives in regards to needing to potty which is why potty training can be very difficult. You are basically retraining their brain to recognize those signals.

So honestly, it boils down to what works for your family, in my mind.
