Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

Not only can smoking and alcohol harm your unborn baby, but certain food can as well. I am a major fan of seafood, so I was rather bummed when I learned that certain seafood can harm my child due to the high contents of mercury.

Below s a list of food(s) to avoid

Some fish in sushi
Shark
Swordfish
Tilefish
King Mackerel

Seafood that contain low-contents (of mercury)

Salmon
Anchovies
Herring
Sardines
Trout
Atlantic and Pacific mackerel

Although the low-contents are safe, I avoided all forms of seafood during pregnancy.

There are other foods to avoid as well such as:
Raw meat and uncooked seafood
Raw eggs
Soft cheeses (Brie, Camembert, Roquefort, Feta, and Gorgonzola for example)
Because they contain Listeria which can cross the placenta and cause the baby to have an infection.

Tilapia is one I will never like. It doesn't matter what I do to it, the taste is horrid. However, a friend of mine says he smokes his and that's how brightens the taste.
I do love salmon though. Yum!
