Breastfeeding problems :(

I've still been breastfeeding my daughter who will be 2 in October. I've just recently tried to start weaning her off of breastfeeding so much so she'll eat more solid food. Now, I get super engorged every time I skip a feeding. Then I get sick. Like severe flu-like symptoms. Totally incapacitates me. I don't feel better until I nurse her and some time passes to let the symptoms go away. I checked online. It's apparently common. Like going through withdrawal. But what can I do? Any ideas?

If you have a pimp maybe pump a little when you skip a feeding and just gradually decrease how much you pump. When I first had my son I didn't have a pump and I would have to pump by hand for a few minutes it's slow and I didn't ever get a whole lot out that way but it relieved the pressure.

I breastfed four children and never had that. Maybe it's more psychological than physical. Are you really comfortable weaning your daughter?

Sounds like you are getting engorged and possibly a touch of mastitis. When I weaned, I used a tight bra (sports bra) and never had a problem with engorgment.. The tight bra keeps pressure on your nipples which is supposed to tell your boobs not to let down.

Hopefully you can find something. :(

I had never heard of this either before you brought it up. Is the pumping or wearing a tight bra helping? I hope you start feeling better.
