Normal for newborn?

How often is normal for a newborn baby to poop? Mine is 4 days old and he's been pooping about 6-8 times a day. He's bottle fed, when his dr's office saw him in the hospital he said that babies vary, some poop several times a day others may only go every couple days, so I think his pooping is normal. My friend thinks he's pooping too much. What do you guys think?

I really don't remember (my youngest is almost 12) , but that seems like a lot. I remember that a newborn should wet 10 - 12 cloth diapers or 5 - 6 disposable diapers a day. Personally, that seems like a lot of pooping to me. Is he really fussy or agitated? Does he have any other symptoms? He may not be reacting well to the formula. You should ask your doctor.

Tristen was breasts fed but he ate a lot and he pooped a lot 4-5 times a day sometimes more. But he grew like normal and other than some gas issues he always seemed fine. I think like the doctor said, they are all a little different.
I know for Tristen a lot of the time I had to wait for him to finish. He would poop, then a few minutes later poop some more.

Yup...I did that with Tristen so many times! Lol but I had no idea a little creature could hold so much poop! Lol

That sounds like it's still in the normal range. Like you said too, you may just be changing him before he's done too.
