Let's be mindful of what our kids are watching on T.V!

Hello Everyone! the reason why i say this is very simple, my children wake up by 7:30 am every morning, so i have my routine of bathroom to brush there teeth, wash there face, then kitchen for some milk & breakfast then T.V time by 8 am. i have a 2 yr old and 1 yr old boys. i start with DISNEY CHANNEL by 9 am i put NICKJR. for paw patrol until maybe 11 am. then T.V off for some play time with toys then at 12 for lunch by 1 pm T.V go on back to DISNEY CHANNEL, but today i just turn the T.V and completely forgot to change the channel back to DISNEY CHANNEL, I go to the kitchen to start my dinner but i hear my 2 yr old ( OZZIE) making noises like his kicking and jumping but out of breath i ignored it the 1st time but now i hear him jumping from something beside just a regular jump, i get concern and say to myself " what is he watching that he is sooooo into it" when i get to the livingroom he is in top of his toy box jumping and kicking and doing movements with his hands that i had never seeing him do, so i turn my face to the wall where my T.V is located at i see that his watching the NINJA TURTLES and he is doing exactly what he sees!! i was in shock and mad at myself because i wasn't careful, so now he was screaming that he wanted to continue watching that particular cartoon, i just ignore his screaming and put it back to DISNEY CHANNEL, and he just stop crying sat on the sofa a just stared watching Mickey mouse club house, what im trying to say is that kids will IMITATE everything they see and they dont have the capacity to know what's wrong or right we most let them watch and hear what is proper for them and there age!!! I ONLY ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO WATCH WHAT I THINK IS APPROPRIATE FOR THEM AND THOSE CARTOONS ARE OUT OF THE LIST FOR NOW!

I agree with you. I also have my "Mommy Approved" list. I am not too keen on the violent cartoons, either. I also dislike Spongebob because he displays adult/older teen humor on there.

I watched that growing up, TMNT. I just dislike Spongebob and there are some cartoons that are super violent, which I do not approve of. There are some on Nickelodeon and the Cartoon Network that can get down right nasty and disturbing.

They do imitate everything and I was more mindful and watchful when my girls were younger but our boys were such a different species it didn't matter what we did or didn't let them watch it seemed. They wanted to use guns with bananas or sticks and that was before they even saw any programs with them! They were so much more active than our girls. It's just the way they are, at least our boys.

I agree, I have my approved list and Sponge Bob is not okay with me for him. It is more adult like and it's funny because one day he was watching Paw patrol and SpongeBob came on after and I was in the other room preparing lunch and once I heard the theme song I ran to change it and he wanted it on because he was liking the song. Nope not yet buddy! He has his certain shows and for Daddy and I it works best for us. Mark used to watch Sponge Bob when he was little and he agreed not for little man.... not yet. Cartoons really have changed a lot and I am thankful many of them today are educational. when he gets a little older I'll allow others but for now the focus is learning.

Yeah.. we pretty much stick with PBS cartoons.. About the only Disney they watch is Mickey Mouse... and usually the older ones because we don't get Disney anymore. We are very picky about the PBS cartoons too.. They used to love Super Why but it had to be taken away because they watched one of the characters throw a fit when things didn't go her way and Andrew has been a pain ever since.
