Tongue Tie

A lot of babies are born with a tongue tie, it's that little piece of skin under tongue being attached farther out than usual and makes it hard to stick your tongue out very far and can make it so baby can't breastfeed.http://santabarbaralactation.com/blog/tongue-tie-…

I've heard of this and we even wondered if this was an issue with one of our babies who struggled to gain weight on my breast milk. I cannot remember if it was ever officially diagnosed or just mentioned in passing.

My sister's oldest wasn't bad enough to cause problems, but her oldest son had it bad and she stopped breastfeeding out of frustration, got it corrected and relactated.

My son didn't have this. How is it corrected? Do they cut it? :/

Yes, you take them to the dentist and they just clip it. With babies, they eat enough that it won't grow back together because they keep sticking their tongue out. With older kids they have to keep sticking their tongue out so it doesn't grow back.
