Learning/development

How old was your child when he or she started tracing numbers and letters? Also, when did they have more than 10 words in their vocabulary? My daughter is 22 months old and the people who we live with say that they're worried that people might think she is developmentally challenged because she doesn't write or trace letters or numbers yet. And she says several words, but doesn't put together whole sentences yet. They're making me feel like I'm a bad mother and am making my child stupid or something. Can someone please let me know what their experiences are with these milestones?

Every child develops at their own pace, but if you're worried about it, your pediatrician can help.

I don't have an answer, but I know other mamas on here will.

Tracing numbers and letters is something children do in Kindergarten. While they can do it earlier I think under two years old is a bit young for that.

As far as vocabulary goes yes that's a little low. Really not something to worry about yet though, some kids just don't talk much until they get a bit older and then all of a sudden they are speaking in paragraphs, lol. I would bring it up to the pediatrician but they probably won't be too worried about it.
