Short toddler

My 14 month old just got back on the growth charts at her 12 month check up. She was only in the 3rd percent. Dr has been saying she is concerned about her height since she started at the 89 percent when she was born. But she wont do anything but keep telling me that she is concerned then says she'll look at it at the next check up. this has been going on since her 6 month check up. Anyone else have a baby/toddler with a similar issue?

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. They will push tests on you if the growth continues on the same path, though. I would push to figure in genetics, first. Even if you only have one ancestor that's small (within a few generation), your son could easily have gotten that short gene.

I just wonder because the doctor says she's concerned, but just says "let's wait and see". ugh i hate hearing that. She also says it could be because she's always sick, then says it could be because i have 2 older children.

Her size will have nothing to do with either of those (unless it's sick that takes her nutrition away). I'm talking from experience, here, not just opinion. My oldest daughter was a sick baby, small and short, but so am I and so were many grandparents. Kids don't often fit into their 'charts'. As long as she is meeting milestones, I wouldn't worry about growth.

I agree with Tabitha... If baby is meeting milestones, you're probably in the clear. I wouldn't worry right now.

How tall are you and her father? Others in your family? Sometimes doctors are too focused on the charts and forget about genetics and who knows maybe she'll sprout up in a couple of weeks? My oldest started out in the 90% early on and then dropped so have some of my other babies.

i am 5'5" and my husband is about 5' 9" or 6'. Everyone in our family is about average or tall. My daughter started at 89% at birth and at 12 month is at 3%. She goes back next month for her 15 month check so i'll see what she is then. I'm starting to feel like the dr likes to tell me she's concerned about things then drag things out. They have done that with her being sick all the time. All winter it was well it's her 1st year of life she's just getting use to things. Then it was let's wait until the weather warms up she'll get better. then once spring hit it was well her immune system is still getting use to things. One excuse after another. lol

lol I wouldn't worry about her height.
When they do that to me I think 'so you have no idea, but want to make it sound like you do.'
Go in vitacost.com and get some elderberry syrup. I keep it in the house every winter. It's a great immune booster. My kids get it at the first sign of a sniffle.
