Water Fountains at the Playgorunds/Parks

Aside from the hot summer months, do you drink from water fountains that are in the parks/playground or anywhere? Do you encourage your children to? If not, share your reason?
I ask because, I remember when little how big a deal it was to even have water fountains available in some places. Over time, less people including myself use them on a regular. We do buy water and I keep some packed for our outings especially for little man to stay hydrated. I'm curious to see how common or uncommon it really has become.

I agree! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. Lol

You know I completely understand why people choose to use or not use them. Aside from germs, although I've never placed my mouth on any part of the fountain it's true you never know who or what has.
However, what's prompted me not to in the earlier years is always having my own water with me. Now for more recent reasons of which I'm not sure you have where you reside: I've noticed in some neighboring communities/areas of town having signs posted for mainly subdivisions stating "Superior Quality Water" (including water district #)while some subdivisions along side them did not have the same sign posted but instead the typical sign with their water district number. Often times their aren't any signs posted at the parks/public facilities in regards to this and it just makes me wonder how much the water quality really differentiates. Personally, I hate that all water cannot be superior quality....... but it's out if our control.....

I have gotten into the habit of carrying water for my daughter and if I have no water available afterwards, I have to revert to the water fountain sometimes. I just usually fill the cup of water. Of course, I wouldn't drink it directly into the mouth piece but, when there's nothing avaliable to you. You just have to do it.

No, I do not because they harbor a lot of germs. People put their mouths on them, and it is disgusting. Besides, with all of the bugs and birds flying about, I am sure there is more than just germs and someone's saliva residing on the fountain spout.
