Flipper teeth

Does anyone on here use one full time? Is it visible? Can you tell the difference or does it just look like a retainer?

Hubby has one, but I didn't realize or remember it was called a flipper. His isn't like a retainer. It is like a mini set of dentures. He doesn't like his. Food gets stuck in it and he calls it a pain. He wishes he had of taken care of his teeth better so he wouldn't need it.
I've never used one, but if they do work, I'd love to have one... I've got some wicked crookedness happening in part of my front teeth.
