Stay at home wives/mothers
Would your husband be able to claim you on his taxes because he is the only one bringing home the bacon?
He cannot claim you like you do your kids if you are married but you file married filing jointly and you get a bigger standard deduction.
^^^ yep, that. Married filing jointly is what it is called. Even with no income on one part, doesn't matter.
Yeah, what Amy said. :)
Thank you ladies
What if you aren't married but live together, and I dont work.
Typically a dependent has to be your child or relative. There are other circumstances where a person could deduct someone not a child or relative but it isn't common and not for your partner.
I was just wonering, I mean his mom claimed me last year. So I was just wondering what would be the diference if he did instead of her.
She can because technically you would have been classified as a qualifying child as long as your parents didn't claim you. They make it very confusing sometimes.
