No parents allowed during a dentist visit?

I was searching for dentists and all the ones I found have a policy of no parents allow to go back with their kids! That's a BIG NO! Is this a new policy? I have never heard of that before, because its definitely not happening.

I would definitely not let my 1 year baby alone with any doctor! Specially with her not wanting to be with strangers and her separation anxiety.

I do the same with my son too. He is also autistic and I go in with him because he gets scared and I'm afraid of him hitting the dentist lol But for a baby to go in alone heck no! lol she's to small to be left alone with a dentist I don't even know.

I discovered this when I was looking for a pediatric dentist as well. I thought they surely wouldn't make my one year old go in alone and I made an appointment. I was completely shocked to find out they did want my one year old to go in alone and I was even more shocked by the form they wanted me to sign to allow them to control my baby. I refuse to let my child see a doctor without me or my husband there. I think this type of dentistry only leads to a life time of fear of dentists. I found a family dentist that I see for myself who is very patient with my kids and let's my husband and I go in too.

Wow I image how surprised you we're I would say No too and just leave. I don't understand why make a baby go alone in a room with a dentist a stranger they don't know I don't see the point. Its not like they go to their well child check ups alone why would they have to be alone for any other doctor procedure.

I wouldn't ever let my children go in alone. I would go back with all five or six of my children. It was cramped in the small rooms but I refused to let my children go back alone after the experiences I had with dentists. I had a hygienist tell me I couldn't go with my child, I did not go in that time we took up space in the hallway that time because I refused not to be able to be with her to see and hear what was going on. When I asked if that was the practice's policy I was told it was not, just that hygienist. I asked if I could see another hygienist and they told me all I had to do was request the one I wanted when I made my appointment. The nice hygienist and the dentists NEVER had a problem with me going back with all my children in tow. Then again, other than taking up space, we were never a problem for them either.

I would look for another practice.

I say five or six of my children because this was back when I did not have the last 2-3 younger ones .

I too will look for another practice that doesn't have that stupid policy. The hospital that Elise has always been going to has a waiting list of up to 5 months due to a new dentist they hired, so they emailed me a list of other places. I guess I will call tomorrow and put her in the waiting list.
