Are you proud to be an American?

I know it's not the "cool" thing to be proud of this country. Lots of jokes are made about those who love it here, like the whole "Murica!" joke of a redneck wielding a gun and holding a copy of the constitution. I personally find that incredibly distasteful and it's not something I want my children to feel as they grow into adult citizens.

What are your thoughts on the topic?

I proud to be an American for what it once was but not so much for what it is now. I watched three houses be torn down for no reason the other day, I don't understand why we tear down when there are sooo many family's that could have used that to build their life in. Idk it's just different than it was even when I was a kid.

I am very proud to be an American! I do not like our president but I think America is better than some places.
I guess my thought process is that I don't agree with everything, or even most thing our government does. I think we have a long way to go to be the best and no I don't think we are the top of the list as far as countries go. That said, I am happy that I live in a relatively safe place as a woman and a mother. Mine and my children's lives could be so much much much much worse in other places. I have the freedom here to not be married and be the head of my household, I have the freedom not to follow the dominant religion and not worry about being penalized for it, I have the freedom to send my child to school no matter what gender they are... there are just so many freedoms that people take completely for granted. I am proud to live in a country that while imperfect, tries to maintain a standard of living that gives many freedoms that others do not enjoy.
