Do you let your child eat treats while shopping?

This morning while I was doing my shopping William saw another child eating cookies and asked for one. I said no - I don't buy cookies normally as I prefer to make my own - and he was fine with that.
The other mom heard him and gave MY SON a cookie and said "horrible mommy, you can come stay at my house" and I flipped! (Yes, I am ashamed about it, now)
I honestly don't even remember half of what I said to this woman but I found that SO disrespectful of her! (Not to mention the fact that she put the open, half empty bag of cookies back on the shelf before paying)

We have never let William eat during our shopping trip - the closest we have come is breastfeeding while at the check out.

Do you let your kids eat while sitting in the cart?

I don't, and I won't. Nina behaves well enough with a toy in the seat with her.
As for that woman, what the hell? Who -dares- to say that over a cookie and act like that? I'd have flipped, too, and probably found the nearest clerk and told them about the cookie package, too. It used to drive me nuts when I worked at Subway when people would eat chips BEFORE paying as they had their sandwich made. As for her, that behavior isn't even a lack of common courtesy. It's downright disrespectful and wrong. I got ticked even reading that part of your post.

Oh great, Im not the only one! My husband says he wants to buy footage of the security tape as he has never seen that side of me... For heavens sake it was a cookie!
There are times when my mom and I will joke about being a horrible parent but this just did my nut and I went crazy...

Truth be told, I am totally embarrassed, I like to think I have a better handle on myself and I can't imagine what came over me. (I think I might be part bear??)

I bring little snacks for Tristen but I normally shop really early in the morning and he doesn't like to eat breakfast very early so he gets hungry. But I would NEVER get something off the shelf and feed it to him. I totally would have had a mouthful for that lady too! Then I would have gone up front and told them about the bag of cookies she put back and told them who she was. Lol that would teach her!

first of all nobody gets that close to my baby without permission. I am Mommy of my child and if you don't want your child to have something no one else has the right to step on your toes like that. Oh I would have been radical at her. I used to tell mine that we pay for what we eat not steal and I am not shy I probably would have gotten angry and made a scene with my luck.

I am really sorry that you had to experience that. I hate going out here cause it feels as though I am surrounded by rude people. But I just tell myself that I am being paranoid.

If they do get a snack, it's one I have brought from home-but it's a last resort.

I would have flipped out, too. And then she didn't even pay for them??? That's stealing, plain and simple.
