We had a scare...
Last week our ram lamb was down and we had to call the vet out. Call it newbie stupidity but he was anemic and full of worms. :( The vet gave him less than 50% chance of survival. We were all sad and worried for a few days wondering if Atlas was going to make it. Dr. M gave B instructions to give Atlas Vitamin B shots for a week. Within a day Atlas perked up and has been every day since. We are very thankful and will be learning from this lesson - better pasture rotation and checking the goats and sheep's eyelids for anemia more often.
Ever have a scare with a pet?
I lost quite a few dogs to cars and had a dog that got tangled in his chain and tangled in a fence (around the first joint in the leg). We could have saved him if my ex had allowed me to take him to the vet.. By the time my ex took him the infection was spread too far.
When I was 14, I had pet rats I raised. One broke her leg. My entire family insisted it was going to die but I refused to believe them. Instead, I took a popsicle stick, created two splints and wrapped the leg. I kept her a seperate cage with lots of old rags and massaged and exercised her leg everyday. She healed and lived.
