Fibromyalgia

Does anyone else on here suffer from fibromyalgia? Mine started in february 2011. Its a chronic pain disorder of over active nerves. It took me just over 2 years to get diagnosed and I practically did that myself. So as soon as I got diagnosed the doctors started to experiment on me with different medicines. One that they have put me on is amitriptylin which is a depression med but I guess they use low level antidepressants for pain now. Anyways it didn't work out for me and I've been trying to get off of it for a while now and I just cant. All the doctors and all the research I did said it's not suppose to be a dependent/addictive drug but everytime I try to even whean myself off of it I have horrible withdraws. It honestly feels like I'm not all there( if you can understand that). I"ve talked to all my doctors and I swear they're stupid. But I am so tired of doctors and their crappy medicines and experiments I mean damn they could at least warn you about this crap. Sorry just feeling like crap and need to vent.

I'm sorry to hear that, Tessa! Some studies indicate that cupping therapy, when combined with acupuncture, may reduce fibromyalgia symptoms more effectively tan medications. Cupping therapy is typically practiced by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. Does fibromyalgia runs in your family? Doctors usually prescribe antidepressants to help promote sleep. Besides acupuncture and cupping, try to do yoga and massage therapy.

I think it runs in the family my mom just hates doctors and wont go to find out what's wrong with her but it's almost to the T of my symptoms. I've tried yoga a little but never any of the others you mentioned. I have no insurance so no one even cares to deal with me. Thanks

No, but my sister-in-law does and I've seen how down it can get her. I've had my own run-in's with doctors over a very high ANA test (suspected lupus) but regardless probably auto-immune something and I know they can be a pain in the but. I hope you start feeling better and find a knowledgable doc who gives a crap about his/her patients.

Have you done any research on alternative methods of treating Fibromyalgia instead of using drugs? Sometimes alternative care enables you to slowly wean yourself off of the drugs as the alternative method begins to work.

Ideas off the top of my head are to look for help nutritionally first. Many illnesses stem from what we are putting into our bodies, right?

I don't claim to agree with everything Dr. Mercola teaches but he has a free report (I haven't read it) but it might give you some ideas.

Yes, I also suffer from fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed I think 2004, however they were treating me for rheumatoid arthritis for about 2 years. At that time my pain level was at 4 and really bad days was about a 7-8. I had a work related injury in May of 2006 and that injury took my good days to a 6-7 and my bad days to about a 10.5. My help came when I stared my home based business and actually became a product of my product changed my life. Those drugs that the pharmaceutical companies distribute to us just gives you side effect that require you to take more meds. If you need to talk to someone the understands I'm defiantly here. People that look from the outside in don't understand an possibly believe that we are hypochondriacs, because if they can't physically see it with there eyes they don't believe it. Being in sever pain on top of everything else that happens in life is hard and frequently depressing.
