Pediatriction and baby gear

So I am getting pretty far along is my pregnancy and I still have not decided on a pediatrician for my baby. My husband keeps putting it off-I don't think he realizes how important it is.
It is the same with the carseat. We still do not have one. I know it is important. I know we need it. My husband just seems to think everything will fall into place...I am pretty stressed.
How can I get it across that these are essential things and need to be done asap?

We never picked a pediatrician either.. Used an on call doctor then saw the local family doctor for later visits (just called the office from the hospital and set up that first appointment). The car seat... Try telling him you can't come home without a car seat.

My midwife was pretty shocked when I told her we didn't have a pediatrician yet. lol and the carseat, well it looks like his friend will give him his old one...but that stll stresses me out. It could be expired. :(

Look on the bottom. If it's an infant car seat they will not let you leave with it, the date month and year will be on the bottom in raised numbers the same color as the rest. If it's a convertible, they don't check up here unless you tell them you need help.

Thank you! That is really good to know! didn't know the expiration date could be found right on the car seat!

For the pediatrician we got a referral from my ob for a clinic. Then it was just whichever doctor was available. I also checked with others that live in my area and many people use the same one. The hospital will want the name of the pediatrician or the clinic for when they come check on baby.

For the car seat I would get it soon as the hospital will not let you leave without it. You may also want to install it and have it inspected by your local police or fire station.

I also received referrals, but there are many on the list. I've heard of interviewing a pediatrician, do you know anyone who has done that?

Yes, do know that. I've also told my husband that. He is the sort that does everything last minute. His friend will give us his old carseat, but I am worried it might be expired. His daughter is around 3 or 4 now and carseats exprie within 5 years, I think?

Check the date on the car seat. You can go the manufacturer's website for help so you can determine if it is expired.

I don't think that's bossy, Melissa. Some men just do not care about those little details and do not know what to say so giving them choices helps them be a part of the process but lets them off the hook in a way too.

lol That suggestion is a rather good one. At least things get done!

He would probably be upset, but he'd get over it. :P

This idea is a good one, but it is the first one I tried. My husband just gets himself lost in his work. He is pretty much blind to everything. :P
