So my 3 year old gives herself a nap almost everyday. Whenever she gets tired she'll just grab her blankey and lay down on the couch and go to sleep. My 4 year daughter and 5 year old nephew refuse to take a nap. I've tried everything and they're just those kinds of kids that don't need naps anymore. My nephew even has 45 minutes of nap time at school and he'll just lay there and be quite the whole time. So ladies do your kids take nape? What age did they stop?

Consider yourself lucky. It is rather healthy for a child to nap up to the age of 8 years old. especially when they sstart kindergarten and are forced to lay down. If the napping is somehow an inconvenience then a child your child will stop napping when you make them stop napping. She may be rather cranky and non too happy with you for a few days, but this is something she will soon get over and adapt to. good luck

Awww...your 3 year old sound like three, actually four of mine who have been like that either for naps or bedtime. They just know and knew when their bodies had enough and needed sleep.

My three year old stopped earlier in the year. It just depended, but the average age for ours has been 2-3 years old. Otherwise they wouldn't go to bed on time if they napped.
Hello Tessa!! Hello all!! I just joined and although I don't have any advice on this, I was actually hoping to get the same help with my 3 year old. He is in pre-school and still takes a 2 hour nap every day, which makes things so difficult at bed time! Some days I can't get him to bed until 10pm due to the nap! I've spoken with his teacher and asked that she wake him after an hour if the nap is absolutely necessary but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm hoping this ends soon, I love that he has the rest time during the day but the evenings are proving difficult with him still highly energetic at 9:30pm!
When my son was 2 he decided that he didn't want to nap anymore. Even though I put him down at the normal time every day, he would just play the whole time. No matter how many times I went back in there and laid him back down, he just would not go to sleep for a nap. So I gave up for about a year on his naps. And then he started getting really whinny in the middle of the day. I started laying him back down for a nap and voila, he naps again. So, my point is, you are so lucky that your child wants to take a nap and does it on her own. When you think is best for her to stop taking naps, I think that is the way to do it. And just remember, every child is different.
My daughter is 5 and will still sometimes take a nap in the after noon... not as religiously and i would like her too... but she will take one! Some days she fights it and I can tell that she desperately needs one!
