Kidney donations, a good samaritan?

I was watching Good Morning America and they showed a story about a website where people could offer to donate their kidney. It is illegal to sell any body part, but you can donate if you want to. The story they showed was of two women, both mothers, one with polycystic kidneys. The donor did a simple, altruistic deed by signing up and donating her kidney. As they showed the women preparing for surgery I wanted to cry, and I don't cry over very much. But can you imagine? Just a stranger saving your life like that for no reason other than to do it?

I don't have the best health so I am pretty sure I could never do this. And honestly, I don't know if I would be brave enough to do it. Is this something you could ever do?
