Prayer for kids?

I know a few of you might be handy on this... The bedtime prayer... Now I lay me... The "If I die before I wake"... part is too big for my kids... My son never paid much attention but the other night asked me if he COULD die.. and if I said he couldn't, then why would it be in a kids prayer..

fair enough.. I don't like it much for myself much less my kids...

Any great alternative short bedtime prayers out there?

I have the.. Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep and angels watch me through the night until I wake at morning light"..

The other ones online are far more intense than I like for a nighttime ritual...

There are little prayer books you can get. I know we have some but they are downstairs and I'd have to hunt for them. I don't know of any prayers from memory because we pray like we are talking to God so it would go something like this for our children:
"Dear Lord, thank you for this day. Thank you for Mommy.....and each member of the family. Thank you for (insert child's favorite person or thing). Please forgive me (if they are sorry for what they said or did to a friend, brother or sister). Put a hedge of protection around our house and keep us safe. In Jesus name, Amen."

That's pretty generic but usually how our children pray. They may include a thanks for some special thing we did or prayer for an ill family member etc.
Thank you.. .Yes.. we keep it quick and simple and then say our thanks and mention anyone specific that's traveling or sick, etc... We always end with "Thank you for all that we are and all that we have"..
I like it better when they come up with their own.. if it's memorized words then it loses it's impact.. they just say it like the ABC's... if they come up with it on their own then they think about it and really mean it and it's always very sweet... My daughter said the other night just out of the blue that she wishes God to heal "mommies friends sister from cancer".. I didn't even know she was aware.. clearly she eavesdrops lol.. but it was so sweet and loving. I was so proud.

Thank you... I was just looking for new little phrases and things to help them out some nights...
