a baby wearing earrings

I don't have earrings, my sister got them when she turned 18 years old. I'm not against it, but I think that a mom should think twice before she decided to get earrings for her little girls.

It's a good idea to wait at least 4 months old, after your girl will have her shots done. Cultural or religion preferences will probably end up dictating the decision one makes, and actually moms can take the choice away from their girls. If your daughter does have her little ears pierced, be certain you take the care and health of her ears seriously.

I think they look so cute on babies but I couldn't bring myself to cause my baby unnecessary pain. But this year, the week between their birthdays, they decided they wanted them done so as soon as they said it we wen,t before they had a chance to change their minds cause I waited 4 years to have their ears done. And I was so proud of them and yes they hurt but after they had them done they loved them and was proud of them too. And your right it's so important to keep them clean and take care of them. Not to mention its not hard. My 4 years olds ears have never got infected and my 3 year olds ears got infected a couple weeks ago when she had a inner ear infection from a virus. I didn't know that would happen but it did and it was painful for her and hurt when I had to clean them but we had no choice.

My oldest daughter wants earrings so bad... i told her she has to wait until she is at least 13... sounds harsh... but just something I believe!

I've always wondered about this. I don't think I will bring myself to do it, rather let babygirl decide for herself. I got mine pierced at around 5 or 6 years old when I thought I was ready. Plus, no worries about them coming out and being a choking hazard. Do they make specific locking baby earrings for this?

I always thought it was cute and wanted to get my first daughter's ears pierced but my husband did not agree and said it should be our daughter's decision. She's 16 and had yet to get them done though she's talked about it for years.

My mom let me get mine done at age nine. Then I got a second whole when I was 16. Use to wear earrings all the time until I had children. Earrings attract little fingers so I stopped wearing them. When I was a child my sister had her earlobe ripped through when we (my sisters and I) were skating and goofing around; her earring got caught on a jacket or scarf or something ripping her earlobe. After that I always was fearful of that happening to me.
