Need advise on fetility clinics

Hi ladies. I was doing a google search on what to expect at the fertility clinic and the search sent me here. So, hopefully you guys can help. I am 30 years old and have no children of my own. My husband is 29 and has an 8 year old son with his ex-wife. We have been TTC for 2 and a half years and have had no luck. So we made an appointment for December 12 with the fertility clinic. The receptionist that made the appointment said that this appointment was just an evaluation. I have no clue what to expect or even how long it will take for us to conceive. Can anyone help me to understand what to expect and what is the evaluation that they are doing?

as I understand you're asking about fertility clinic. I was interpreting for a couple who wanted to conceive in our local Minneapolis Center of Reproductive Medicine. Their success rate is 56%, which is very good. This is an IVF clinic. Evaluation means they probably will go through your and your husband health history, assess your reproductive anatomy by an x-ray called hysterosalpingogram, and semen analysis. And they will create a personal treatment plan for you. You will discuss all possible options with your doctor.

thank you both for the answers. I'm nervous about going to the fertility doctor, but at the same time we want a baby and its very discouraging month after month with not even so much as thinking we are pregnant. i have been doing everything i can think of. i have been on prenatal vitamins and everything else i can think of to be healthy. but after 2 and a half years i think its time for medical help.

@Linda i think that's what the evaluation will be I'm not too sure. My doctor is the one who recommended we see a fertility specialist.

@brende I am sooooo tired of hearing that and also when people say it will happen when it's your turn. It seems everywhere I go someone is pregnant or just had a baby. Before my husband and I started trying a friend of ours and her husband was trying and it took them almost 2 years. When my husband and I started trying is when our friend found out she was pregnant and she was giving me pointers on what she did. Then 5 others girls I am close to go pregnant not even trying (not all at the same time but within the time my husband and I are trying). I was happy for them but couldn't help but feel a little jealousy because I want my turn. My husband and I were talking last night and I asked him what was he willing to do and not willing to do to conceive a baby. He said whatever it takes. That made me happy. The environment I am in is pretty relaxing. I'm a student at the local university so I do not work. I have classes 2-4 hours a day then I'm at home the rest of the day either studying, sleeping, working in our house that we are remodeling, or keeping the house we live in clean. I go to my moms every once in a while a visit my family. Other than that I don't do much. My husband helps me with remodeling the house when he's not working and helps keep the one we live in clean (which isn't hard to do). I think our main source of stress is not getting pregnant.
