After Birth Recovery

How long does it normally take you moms to recover from having a baby (breasts swollen, bleeding, etc)??

Breasts... until your body knows how much baby eats, for me that takes 2-3 weeks. The bleeding, I think it depends on the woman and the birth. My oldest two (severe tears and episiomities) took 2-3 weeks to heal and be done bleeding, then another few weeks until I felt normal again. My third (small tear), I bled for a week, but was very sore for two or three weeks. My last, no tears, easy birth, to breast right away.. i stopped bleeding in 5 days and was back to normal (except for energy level) within two weeks.

Breastfeeding helps your uterus contract and will get everything out that's supposed to be out. If your bleeding hasn't started slowing down, I would mention something to your doctor.

Take it slow and easy until you feel back to normal. Women in other countries usually get help for WEEKS after baby comes and are expected to stay in bed. The US, we get days (if we are lucky). I know taking it easy is a laugh with older kids.. I just treated myself as if I were still nine months pregnant until I felt back to normal.

Thank you for that advice. I'm trying to take it easy and hope things will start to look up soon.
