Grocery Bill

Not to be nosy, but how much do you spend on groceries? It seems like we spend a fortune, and this has become a real debate between me and my husband. He insists on shopping at a small store (to support the little guy), but I say the prices are too high. We get enough for three meals plus a few other things for about $180 a week. I usually buy the other meals myself. We don't get food stamps, so the entire amount comes out of our pockets. I don't use coupons because I find it's cheaper to buy the store brand, which is usually just as good, and I try to avoid frozen foods. We do buy bulk items at a club, which is a savings, but it's extra out of our pockets when we need to buy them.

I keep ours around $50 a week. I make a lot of crock pot dishes and casserol dishes that give us leftovers. My husband takes either leftovers or sandwiches to work for lunch and we almost never eat out. I don't use coupons either. I try and plan my trips to the store and get get what is on sale. We don't do expensive meats, except every once in a while, which help a lot. And I ALWAYS have a list made and stick to it. I found it's those impulse buys that get you.

I spend around $350 a month for a family of 5. I would much prefer to shop the little guys, but simply can't do it. I shop ads and do bulk items at Sam's (meat, cooking basics, sometimes special snacks).

And if you have a smartphone and shop at Walmart, use their savings catcher! It's awesome. I thought I wouldn't get anything back at first but I've gotten back almost $20 I'm the last month. I cashed it in and got my husband a present for Christmas! Lol

I make as much as I can from scratch so I keep in stock the basics and then when make up my meal plan figure out what I need for the week. I think lately we are spending 150 for a household of 5, but a good portion of that is meat and milk

I think we spend about 300 a month on food. I shop at a cheaper store and at Walmart and use coupons. We don't always shop at the same store, we search for sale items.
