Is it normal for kids in kindergarten to continue to see and write numbers and letters backwards?

Is it normal for my Kindergartener to continue to see and write numbers and letters backwards? He is turning 6 in a month and I am worried that he might have a learning disorder like dyslexia. His teacher is pressuring me to hold him back but i don't know if that is the best choice. He is very active and thrives in all other areas but his focus and learning have me terrified something more might be going on. He tries to look for pictures and guesses. I can give him a word #1 then repeat the word in #3 and he doesn't remember it.

Thank you so much. I just needed confirmation that I'm over thinking it. I didn't have these issues with my 12 yr old. However he did put his shoes on the wrong feet until like 10 lol

You are mommy and if you feel that you need to get a professional opinion then I'd say do some research first and talk to your pediatrician and go from there..I know as mom's we can overthink alot of things (there is just so much to think about lol) but maybe a talk with your child's pediatrician will put you at ease

Oh yes, it can be normal. Just keep gently reinforcing how it looks. some kids do great with 3D letter to learn how it goes.

As for the rest.. Get him an exercise ball to sit on. That way he can gently bounce, but still be learning. I know a lot of kids and adults who have to have some movement going on or they can't concentrate and can't learn. A lot of schools are using this method, too.

Thank you. The bouncing might drive me crazy but if it helps him ill try.
