Food allergy?

Most of the time Elise has diarrhea, because of this she always has a red and painful bottom. I have no idea why she never has a normal poop. I give her Lactaid because regular milk was giving her horrible diarrhea but that didn't seem to change much. How can I know what's causing it? has anyone done a food allergy test?

I will ask but doctors never want to do what parents ask. They think they know everything.

Don't ask. Tell. Your the parent. You are paying them to help you figure out what's wrong with your child.

If it's milk allergy you have a lot more to eliminate than just milk. There are so many milk products and almost everything has some form of milk in it (cassein, lactose are the biggest). How I've done the elimination diets for my kids is I've taken the suspected food completely out for 4 weeks (6-8 if it's grains or eggs because those stay in your system longer, and longer for you if your still nursing). After the end of the mark with no food, I start a meticulous food journal-including times it was eaten. After I got to that point, it wasn't too hard to figure out if it was food allergy. Andrew used to have a reaction to milk within two hours, same with Grace and eggs, Eva has a reaction within the hour at the longest.
Yes, they do have food allergy tests. My husband has been through it and doesn't want to put the kids through it. I guess they prick your skin with whatever the suspected allergy is and wait to see if you react.

I saw a video of an allergy testing being done on a toddler and it looked painful! :( I really don't know what could be causing it. She barely eats only a few things like potatoes, eggs she loves eggs (I haven't seen any allergy reaction on her). some meats and cereal, and lactaid milk. I will check what other milks I can try besides cows.

:) You'll get it figured out. Just be patient. Does she drink a lot of juice, that could be causing the diarrhea instead of an allergy. My kids love almond milk, goat's milk is an acquired taste so I'd try that last.

I tried unsweetened almond milk she did not like it much. I never bought it before so I guess they have the sweet one as well? No she only drinks water, rarely some apple juice.

I'd try the flavored kind. The kids really like the vanilla, but that's all I've tried. My mom used to buy the unsweetened then hershey's syrup for the chocolate flavoring.
