Sleep training- night 1

So we started sleep training actually at nap time yesterday. My mom did while I took Malachi out for an afternoon with me alone.
At nap time, she cried for 20 min, fell asleep, woke back up 15mins later for 15mins. Went back to sleep for 2 hours! I had to wake her up to go somewhere. Then came bed time. I had her in bed by 7:30. I did our normal routine but instead of nursing her to sleep I nursed her until she got drowsy. I then laid her in the bed. She cried but I left the room.
I ate dinner with my mom, dad, & son. At the 20 min mark I went to check on her. She had gotten her arms out of her swaddle. So I re-swaddled them and left. She got mad but only cried a little bit longer. She cried 30 mins total. Then she slept until 11:45. Which is already a huge improvement because she used to wake 2-3 times after I put her to bed to nurse more back to sleep. I fed her at 11:45, burped her, checked her diaper and laid her down. She cried under a min and then slept UNTIL 5:35. I got 5 hrs of uninterrupted sleep. I don't remember the last time that happened. I fed her, changed her, and then put her back to bed and she's asleep!!! And didn't cry at all when I left.

Isn't it funny that us moms seem to have more of an issue with the changes? The kids mostly seem to be fine with them. Lol

Yes oh my gosh! But she cried for another 30 mins tonight. It was excruciating. Does it get better??

Eventually it does get better. We've been pretty fortunate with Vivian so far and she was super easy. It seemed to take forever with Tristen even though both were in their own bed from day one. With him, we would get him trained and then he would start crying at night again, then be ok for a few months and then start crying again. Now at 2 1/2 though it's been almost a year that he has gone to bed with no crying.

Yea, it's been great at nap times! She doesn't cry at all. But my mom bought her a monkey that has different noises and stuff like lullabies, streams of water, rain, etc! And we put it on for her tonight and she went right to sleep!! There was absolutely no crying. She's still waking at night but I think that's pretty normal for breastfed babies and since we've started sleep training she's at least going right back to sleep after I nurse her instead of staying up half the night. I'm ok with her waking up as long as we both can go right back to sleep when she's done.

That is great! Yeah both my kids need noise to sleep. It seems to soothe them so much. If it's not loud enough my daughter will not sleep at all.
