Do you often feel bad that you are at work and not a stay at home parent?

I work late hours 3 days a week and feel like my son doesn't get enough of my attention. I wish I can work from home full time but the economy makes it hard for me to be at home and not to work.

I am lucky enough to work from home but still feel guilty, like I'm ignoring my kids and they are begging for attention, even though I've spent the whole day with them. It's hard.

I just started a job and I feel so bad when I go to work. I've been home with them for 2 years! It's so hard being away from them. But we need the income.

I'm a stay at home mom. I do feel bad sometimes that I cannot work to help with the house.. but hubby and I both agreed that I was going to stay at home and take care of Elise because we think daycare's are NOT safe. Specially with all the awful and scary things happening to babies in daycare's nowdays.

Yes, that is one thing I worry about. I do not trust many people with my children. If my sister lived closer (the one out of five I am close to), I would trust her but I do not trust others with my children.

I feel bad for not being a working mom, sometimes. But, I have a special needs daughter who requires a lot of doctors visits, so I know what I do is very important, more than bringing extra income into the home. I would probably be fired for all the times I had to take off work to take kids to the doctors. Jaina has five doctors, plus she will be seeing another one soon. It is worth it, staying at home. Plus, I get rewarded with kisses and hugs throughout the day.

I too have a special needs child He has doctors visit every 3 months then he has like 4 other specialists. I remember when I was working for free due to a requirement for receiving TANF and I was fired and my TANF was taken away due to me being absent a lot for my son's doctors visits back then. I imagine if I work for real and with 2 kids now? lol

Yeah, I know. Lol That's ridiculous they took it away. They should have been more understanding. Many do not understand until they have a special needs child.

even though my daughter is in school now all day. i still wish i could stay at home and work but it is so hard to find a stay at home job that you don't have to pay for. i also work on the weekend so it is so rough on me.

it is natural to feel that way as a mother i guess. i had those feelings too but now i am okay because i a stay at home mom for girls and i am so happy about it. it is never easy to leave your children with someone else to care for them and go off to work but with the cost of living these days you have no choice but to work even if you dont want to.

you will get through it eventually, just take things one day at a time. All the best.
