Poor Tristen...

It seems like just about every day I find something else that has salicylates in it that make him so bad. I'm not sure what it was today, something in the Chinese food he ate, I'm thinking probably sesame oil, or the pineapple in the sauce he snuck. Now that I've discovered the sensitivity it's so obvious to me! I feel bad it took me this long to catch. Now that he isn't getting stuff with it on a regular basis, I can tell when he's about to have a reaction. His face gets droopy and his eyes water, if he gets upset in any way (which is very easy at this point) he panics, I honestly think it makes his skin hurt because he doesn't want to be touched at all which isn't normal for him, he will have a full blown what I used to think was a tantrum that lasts about twenty minutes which involves him crying and screaming in a way that I can't even describe, then when it's over he breathes heavy and since he is darker completed you can see the whole top of his face go pale white, today his nose and neck and cheeks swelled so much someone in the store that seen him when we walked in stopped me and asked me if he was ok. I think it's time to carry some Benadryl with me. Today he kept telling me his head hurt when he was in the middle of the whole thing and then he couldn't stop rubbing his eyes. After about a half hour, the swelling went away, his face was no longer droopy and he was his normal self, even my Mom was amazed at the difference. I feel so bad I never noticed any of it before. It's crazy that one little ingredient, even though it's natural, can cause many issues.

I thought of something last night.. Some of the foods Eva has issues with, she can eat them cooked. Have you tried that?

That works for me on some foods, too. If I touch some foods raw, I break out, but many cooked ones do not bother me as much.

We have...he is the same with tomato stuff like tomato sauces (not as bad though) I was thinking about making him some apple sauce with red delicious apples since those have the lower levels of the chemical...just a little nervous! Lol

lol I understand! I always hold my breath with Eva when she tries something new. With the tomatoes I'm finding she isn't as bad with fresh organic as with canned... weird lol.

Poor little guy. It does suck not being able to eat some of the foods we enjoy due to sensitivities. I am glad you have found what triggers it.
