BV

Ok, so I got diagnosed with BV (Bacterial Vaginoses) and I have to be on a round of antibiotics because BV can cause pre-term contractions (which I'm pretty sure I've already have had some). BUT, I've never been on this antibiotic before (Metronidazole 500 mg pill) and I was wondering if anyone has experiences with it before. When I take it in the morning within a half hour I'm running to the bathroom and when I take it at night, I'm fine. I know antibiotics can cause you to have soft bowels or diarrhea. Any thoughts?

Well for one, that's extremely common during pregnancy. Take baths with apple cider vinegar to balance out the PH, eat garlic, less sugar.
For two, preterm contractions aren' always dangerous. It's your body's way of getting ready for baby. I had them from 16 weeks with my last baby. If they get regular and painful then yes, call your doctor.

As for the meds follow your instructions given by the doctor and pharmacist or on the box.

I did end up going into OB Triage because of pre-term contractions and I was indeed dilating. The midwife told me that BV does cause STRONG contractions that can come out of the blue (and that's what happened). I was having contractions off the chart. She told me to rest, take warm baths with nothing in the water and finish the antibiotics. I'm still sore from all the contractions but I'm doing better. No more running to the bathroom. I only have 3 more days of antibiotics left.
