I need SLEEP!!!

"somewhere between 4 and 6 months, experts say, most babies are ready for sleep training and are capable of sleeping through the night for a stretch of 8 to 12 hours" Did this happen for any parents out there? My son is 7 months old and fights going to bed...then wakes up every two hours or less still. I don't think he is hungry, but he acts like he needs a bottle. he still has a pacifier...so should I just use that instead of giving him a bottle? he eats plenty through the day...so he cant be hungry at night. How did you guys start getting them to sleep longer at night? and what age?

We used a variation of the Cry It Out method, it isn't for everyone. We set a time say midnight or 1 and said we would not feed her unless it was past that point in the night, if she woke up before we would let her cry. If she got very very upset we would go in and rock her or pat her until she calmed down, place her back in her crib and walk out. Then we'd move that time up closer to morning as we went until she wasn't taking bottles at all until morning. I would suggest reading up on a few different sleep training methods if thats what your looking to do. I used "The Sleep Lady: Goodnight Sleep Tight" book. I thought it was helpful in learning how to help my child learn how to sleep through the night. Every child is different so you've just got to find what works for you and your son

My daughter was sleeping 5-6 hours per night at 5 weeks, 8 hours at 8 weeks, and has been doing 10-12 hours since around 3 months. We never did anything special for night time sleep except that she always went down at the same time every night. I think establishing that routine was really helpful. She woke up when she was hungry and as her stomach grew she slept later.

We did use the cry-it-out method for naps and it was hard at first but now she has a great naptime routine.
