stray cat problems

Let me start off by saying I am a huge cat lover. I have a cat named Jasper that is 2 years old. We have about 7 stray cats in our yard. (my mother in law has rental property behind her house) The cats usually stay in the back by the rental trailers. Most of them are very friendly (not all). Jasper loves to look out the window of our bedroom. He sometimes sleeps in the window sill all night. (He stays in our bedroom all the time. We live with my mother in law and father in law until our house is finished and they have a cat and we don't want our cats mixed up. Theirs is declawed ours isn't) Well anyway one of the mean strays decided to try to jump through the window 2 nights ago scaring my husband me and Jasper half to death. When we realized what it was we thought it was funny. Last night Jasper was sitting on the window sill (which is right by our bed, he was half on the bed half on the window). I wanted to know what he was meowing at so I looked. It was that mean stray walking through the neighbor's yard. As soon as it heard Jasper meow it made a bee line for our window (which is pretty high off the ground). Jasper and this stray kept playing hissing and growling games at each other through the window and it keeps trying to jump through the screen to get to him. I do not want this stray around Jasper at all. It looks horrible with scratches and missing fur everywhere. I feel bad for this cat, but at the same time I want it to stay away from my window. They literally kept me up all night last night, even after I closed the window. Any ideas on how to make this thing leave my window alone and how to keep Jasper away from the windows?

even with the blinds shut Jasper goes to the window sill. we have tried locking the blinds and that didn't work. he uses his paw and pulls them apart enough to get his head in there to see outside. He drives us nuts with that. We have already replaced the blinds and used scotch tape to fix the one up there now.

I agree with Mandi about calling animal control. At least they would take it away and it wouldn't bother you anymore. Perhaps there's a no kill shelter that would take it?

I wish there was a no kill shelter around here. My husband built a trap so we can catch it without hurting it. I will try to contact the ASPCA to see what we can do.

You know a lot of people around here often just drop cats off at farms. Not that farms want yet another cat or that I am suggesting you do this but it always amazed me the audacity of people who do this. If you have a farm nearby, perhaps you can ask if they want it? We have six just for the sake of rodent control. 3-4 just was not enough for 12 acres.

We ended up catching it and it turned out to be the sweetest cat. My neighbor ended up taking he in.
