Holistic Health

How many moms take a holistic approach to you and your families health and lifestyle? Just curious...this holistic journey has been so beneficial to me and my family. Living for years with a chronic illness and then one day finding out I no longer have it was so amazing to me. I am so excited to start up my holistic health practice and begin helping others who like me suffered for years with the symptoms of chronic illness and never having the energy to care for your family like you want to. My children are also benefiting from this lifestyle overhaul.

I started back in 2007 when my daughter was born, just eating more whole foods (fruits, veggies, and whole grains). I gradually started to eat less red meat and more lean meats and now I eat meat maybe once a week or every two weeks and alternatives or veggies the rest of the time. I'm also lactose, so I had to cut out dairy and I now drink oat milk or soy milk. I also started taking probiotics, raw vitamins, and other superfoods to increase my energy. Being diagnosed with lupus at age 11 was rough. I was sore and tired all the time. I didn't want that kind of life. I just one day said I want my children to be healthy and I don't want them to struggle with autoimmune disease or female problems like I did and my mother did. My daughter was born premie and suffered with asthma. I have found natural ways to help her so she doesn't have to be on maintenance medication. My husband was diagnosed with thyroid and high blood pressure and we've naturally managed to get him off of medication and he's even lost lots of weight. Instead of antibiotics I take a natural approach first, then if I need to call the doctor I will. I try to stop the illness from progressing. I take zinc and Echinacea at the first signs of a cold. I also take elderberry syrup for flu symptoms. It isn't for everyone I understand but it is a progression of a healthier lifestyle. My husband wasn't into it at first but when they thought I had cancer on top of my lupus and then found out I was healed and had nothing, he was definitely a believer in what I was doing. Kim Haiduke

Yes, Sheila Romingeris correct. Our family takes more of a holistic approach to medicine and illness. I've just witnessed too many family members on medications to NOT try something different! ;) We have eight healthy children to testify to how well the holistic approach works too. We are definitely still on our journey.

michelle BrownI think just starting with the kinds of food you eat is a good place to start. You'll be amazed at how different you feel, how different your children act when you start eating more fresh fruit and veggies and eliminate food dyes and preservatives.
