Straw training

My pediatrician told us to start introducing a sippy cup at 6 months. My daughter would not have it. I breastfeed and she will take a bottle when I pump every once and a while, but it's a no-go on the sippy cup. so the doctor suggested straw cups instead. Apparently they're better for speech development. I did some research and we've had some success. She'll take water from it without protest, but I still have trouble with her biting the straw instead if sucking.

Has anyone else used straw cups for babies? Any tips?

I just remember some of our children struggling more than others learning to use a straw but they eventually all got it.
