I fell off the wagon!!!

Yesterday was day 3 of no sugar.. I know, I know... But it's a big deal for me. First.. I have about 2 teaspoons of powdered sugar in my coffee.. And I drink about 3 cups in the morning. And 1-2 in afternoon. That's a lot if added refined white sugar.. Then... I am addicted to sour patch kids, hot tamales, mike and Ike's.. And when I say addicted.. Meaning I have them in between meals. Every meal. And at night. It's bad. I wanted to cut sugar out because I felt bloated a lot and though I don't want to lose any weight, my middle is mushy and oh. I don't want my teeth to rot. And sugar is just really freaking bad for you. Like really bad. Anywho. Yesterday was day 3.. I was going strong,.. No sugar in my coffee (drinking it black and not loving it but its fine)..and NO candy. Then yesterday it happened. I passed through the candy aisle at target and like an addict started to get excited and so I looked for a sugar free candy.. Something to just curb the craving but then I saw jelly belly bags of the cherrie ones and I broke. Ill just have a few.. What's a few right?? I get to the car and like a freak I break into the bag and eat them like I'd been starving. They were so freaking good. I went to get my kids and they saw the bag and were mad. Lol. My daughter says "moooommm.. Is that your candy??" And I'm like "no what candy? Those aren't mine.. They're my friends".. I ate the rest of the bag throughout the night. Darn it. Oh well.. Still a huge cut back. And I never thought to totally be done.. But to eliminate it a lot.. I'm already making excuses .. Like. Ill just eat candy on the weekends or with friends ..

Oh Jessica Garvinplease stay away from the sugar free stuff! It can have artificial sweeteners which are worse than sugar! My mil is a diabetic and eats the sugar free stuff and if she eats too much it can cause diarrhea, it even states that on the packages. I agree with Leah, and if you can, allow yourself a certain amount. Remember moderation? I know it's hard for sugar addicts (I am a recovering one!) but slowly cut back rather than go without any at all.

Don't worry Theresa.. I didn't.. I was looking for something naturally sweetened with fruit juice.. not splenda or anything.. The reason I'm giving up sugar is to take out chemicals and preservatives and stuff.. not swap it.. If I do have sugar, I'll have real sugar.. .Former nutritionist so that part I know is just better to have real butter then anything fake.. Like "low fat" brownie.. in a box is a joke.. Remember Entemmans? Low fat cakes... but not really?
So, yes.. thank you.. Went to WHole foods and got some horrible hard candies to try and bend that craving.. they're horrible..
So, gum it is.. but yes.. like I said.. just my coffee was the big issue.. Day 5 today with not sugar in my coffee... I DID have candy and i"m okay with that.. :)

I just want to say, beware of sugar free candy. Some of it can wreak havoc on your digestive system, causing a lot of discomfort, and several trip to the bathroom. Haribo sugar free gummy bears are an example. ( see the reviews on amazon.com) If you crave sweet stuff, you could always try substituting candy with fresh fruit. Your body still needs some sugar, and it doesn't hurt to indulge once in a while!

The biggest thing... is the sugar in my coffee. for real.. It's terrible.. I'm not even sure it's coffee anymore.. it's like sugar milk.. white POWDERED sugar.. so refined and chemically stripped of anything natural and good and I HEAP it in..

I got a bag of powdered sugar and marked the date on it and it was 10 days later I finished a bag of sugar.. a BAG.. and that was JUST in my coffee...

SO yes.. THAT has to be done.. the other stuff.. the candy stuff.. I can deal.. I have my binges, but I will worry less if I don't eat a BAG of sugar in 10 days.. lol

        NOOOOO!!! Mandi!! Don't do it..

FIrST.. Nothing tastes like real sugar.. nothing..

Second.. it's made in a factory.. I know it says it's "natural" but.. can you pronounce the ingredients? it's made my altering things.. Like stevia..

You're better off... I"M better off.. getting pure cane sugar... and eating just granulated cane sugar.. at least it's natural and not messed with...

But that's why I'm taking out the powdered sugar in my coffee... it's colored, it's messed with and it's bad...

WALK AWAY FROM THE SWERVE!! Plus.. it sounds like a GYM name...

but thank you for helping me give up one addiction for another.. :) LOLOL.

i use all natural sugar. pure cane. right now i have a thinly ground one thats vry fine but they make it darker. u can use it for anything. so if a recipe calls for cup sugar use it the same or brown sugar even u just use the regular in place. however idk bout powdered. im sure it can b made naturally tho. my mom orders sugar in bulk like 50 or 60 lb bags. that can b helpful n lasts a while.

but do avoid artificial sugar of any kind. anything diet to. ur btr off. artificial sugar is apartane n turns into farmaldehyde in the blood (somethn like that. my mom would know. shes herbalist n nutritionist n rn) like ur body is being preserved early (thats what is used in preserving dead bodies) gross! also it leads to alzheimers. my grandma used tonsa sweet n low daily n she has severe alz. its very sad.

I disagree Jessica, the swerve is VERY good, so I beg to differ! Stevia is a plant and you can actually buy seeds and grow it in the garden. We haven't been successful here yet because our transplants died but we are trying again.
