How long will cramping and bleeding last if you're having a miscarriage

It will depend on how far along you are, but expect a couple hours or more of heavy bleeding. Be very aware if you are getting woozy and light headed or faint because that could be a sign of excessive blood loss. Unless you've been through heavy bleeding before, you really should go to the ER or call 911.

Once your miscarriage is complete, bleeding could last from a few days to a few weeks if you do not have a d & c done.

I agree. I was only 8 weeks and 6 weeks along both times I miscarried. I spotted lightly for a few days beforehand, which is what made me go into the doctor. It got really heavy for the few hours before I actually miscarried, which is when the cramping was most intense. My second miscarriage happened in the middle of the night and the cramping woke me up. I went to the bathroom and there was a big gush of blood and tissue (sorry if that's gross) and that's when I knew it was over.

After I passed the baby the cramping stopped almost immediately. I bled for a few days after that, like a normal period. I was told to go in if the bleeding soaked a pad in an hour or less or if I got light headed.
