Restoring BAD Credit...

My credit wasn't great to begin with but took a good beating after my divorce with some medical bills and such... So it's really bad now...I've avoided credit cards and loans and such for this reason... BUT.. am starting to see the need for them simply to help my credit out.. Just because there's nothing on my history doesn't make it good..

I opened a secure card to help boost it..

ANY other tricks anyone knows???

Hi Linda.. Look below. but I opened a secure card.. you can put $100 bucks "On a card" and then pay it off every month and that builds your credit.. then you can have a couple of them.. But it's YOUR money up front so start low..

I realized that I stopped having ANY credit.. None and that's almost worse than having bad credit..

Yes. BUT I don't have any credit cards and couldn't get one just yet.. SO that's not an option :) No cards.. no credit... I get it now..

SO.. I looked and opened a secured card.. I put $300 on a card and that's my limit.. and I need to use it and then pay it off every month and that will slowly build my credit and then they may extend a limit.. This is only to build credit... after a few months Ill do another one and then they can see some history..

I HATE credit cards.. I know that having one or two would be nice for anything that comes up with the car or to book a trip, but dealing with my cash only.. what I actually HAVE has saved my tush and put me in a good place with NO debt.. Zero.. Anywhere.. So, it's time.. If I ever want o buy a house or anything..

Sigh... credit and debt... ew! We don't really use our cards anymore.. I sold my car and stocked away quite a bit of money to pay off all my dumb credit cards.. and then for a few dumb big ones we just consolidated with a credit union and snagged an awesome rate.. we can finally finish paying them down, woo! I have heard keeping cards OPEN, but paid off helps.. kind of weird. I have also heard that making a monthly car payment helps too.. sometimes more so than paying the dang car off, because it shows you are making monthly payments.. I think the credit world is twisted and I hate the bit of debt we have.. oy! But good job girlie.. seems like you are going in the right direction!!
