did i tell my daughter how babies were made to soon
well when my daughter was 4 she asked how babies were made and I came straight out and told her she is nine now but do you think I did the right thing
I feel it is up to you on how and what you tell your children. parenting came with no guide. I believe in not lying to my children. have a blessed day.
I agree 100%
Well. I have a 9 year old and I told him pretty much how it happens, but with age appropriate words and not freaking or grossing him out.. .He's nine and the thought of the penis IN the vagina was horrifying to him.. lol.. So I modified it.. He wanted to know.. He needs to know some things.. At 9 I knew.. I knew because I had that book "How was I made"... 9 isn't too young if you make it FOR their age.. They'' figure it out. as they get older what it really means... and all that goes with it.. 9 is way older than it used to be and I knew back then...
we had a conversation with my 10 years old son already too. You know your daughter better, and I knew my son didn't need all the details yet, so I used just the right amount of info for his age/curiosity.
I read somewhere that the more willing you are to answer those kind of questions at a very young age the more likely they will be later to talk to you about other stuff. Keeping this in mind when my daughter asked I just explained it to her because she was old enough to know what was going on when I was pregnant with my youngest. I didn't go into detail of how the baby gets into the tummy to begin with. I just told her that mommy and daddy get together and create a baby and they grow there in the tummy and that they come out to greet the world through a process called giving birth. I told her that she would understand better when she gets older. She was quite content to not know all the gross details.
I agree with Mara! I say it's your kid.. You know how they might handle something like that... And explaining it in their terms.. We'll sometimes it never hurts to do it early! Plus.. At 4, you have to try to realize what she REALLY understood vs what you THOUGHT she understood..
