I took to the hospital: a bathrobe, slippers, towels, pads, absorbent diapers, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, change of clothes, feeding bra, a bottle of water (gasless) - this is for me.

For baby: blanket, diapers, hats, pants, loose jackets, socks, diapers, cotton swabs, baby powder, baby oil, baby wipes, baby soap, a thermometer, a towel for the child - everything was ironed with a hot iron on both sides.

If you are babywearing, a sling or baby carrier.

          Extra burp cloths.

PJs or sleepers in case you are out and can change baby into bedtime clothes while you are out rather than doing it when you get home. This kind of applies as baby gets older and can apply until baby is a young child. Just makes putting them to bed easier if they fall asleep in the car.

I always kept an extra change of clothes, for both me and baby, diapers, wipes, recieving blanket or cover up (if breastfeeding), a bottle of handsanitizer, toys, bandaids and antibacterial ointment, diaper rash cream, tylenol, and a snack for myself.

Not a problem. I was an on the go breastfeeder. You need your munchies to keep your stamina up. As for the handsanitzer, that was essential until they were 6 months old. I was always on the go running into someone I knew who wanted to hold my babies.
