Happiest Baby on the Block!

Ah.. I have been told to "read this book" and "watch this video".. have any of you gals watched or read the book by this pediatrician called "Happiest Baby on the Block"!? I googled his method, tips and tricks.. and whoa, pretty impressed.. I basically watched about his soothing methods for crying babies, colic babies, etc.. and goodness, looks like it works and makes sense! He goes through a quick step process of swaddling, switching them to their side (while holding), subtly wiggling or rocking them, shushing into their ear and then even letting them suck. With a few videos I watched... he did this time and time again to a whole GROUP of Mamas with new babies.. and they all stopped crying immediately, ah!

I loved hearing him talk about the method to his madness.. how many think babies LOVE the quiet and it's just not true.. that in-utero, babies are not in the quiet really.. between outside noise and blood flowing inside, they are more or less hearing a vacuum at all times.. thus, when coming out, EVERYTHING is different and finding those "reflexes" to help soothe them can be so important.. like swaddling and shushing!

Anywho.. just wanted to see if any of you read his books or watched his videos or tried his methods :)

I use to work for a baby product that was actually designed based on the teachings of Dr. Karp and his book The Happiest Baby on The Block. At first I was pretty skeptical that the "shhh, shhh, shhh" would actually calm a crying baby but it totally does. I now firmly believe in what he teaches and I teach it in my childbirth classes. His 5 S's are wonderful for calming a newborn.

Never heard of it, but I agree to the noise. That's why we always tried to vacuum while baby was sleeping etc.

I have the video & have used the tips. I swear by the swaddle, shushing, and noise. Worked for my baby.
