So I know you are not suppose to tell people that you are pregnant until you are about 12 weeks but I figured it would be okay to talk about it on here. So yesterday morning I took an at-home pregnancy test and it was positive. Yesterday evening I had my blood taken to verify I am pregnant and this morning they called to let me know that I had low levels of HCG and they want me to retest in a few days.
Has anyone else had this experience? I read up on google (aka scare the crap out of you search engine) that my levels need to double to mean I am 100% pregnant. Is there a chance that my levels will not double and this is a false positive? Ugh... I would be so bummed.
There is such a large range of what is considered normal for HCG hormone in the blood in early pregnancy. One level is not enough to know what is going on that is why your doctor will retest in a few days to see if your level doubled. For your pregnancy to be viable your doctor is going to be looking for your levels to double and keep doubling. If your number do not double, only increase slightly, or decrease it is a sign of possible miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, blighted ovum, etc.
Just take care of yourself, take your prenatal vitamins, drink water and eat well. Try your best not to stress out. You are pregnant and hopefully it is a healthy pregnancy and your numbers will double. Good luck and congrats!
