Stripping your membranes

Stripping your membranes is not a necessary or normal part of pregnancy. Some doctors will strip your membranes close to your due date to try and get your body in gear and get your labor started. Stripping your membranes is one of the more natural ways of inducing labor. Stripping membranes is not a fast induction solution, usually it take days to even see a change. Getting your membranes stripped is usually painful or uncomfortable. Stripping membranes is a procedure done in the doctors office and can cause some bleeding. If you are concerned about getting your membranes stripped talk to your doctor about it before they do a vaginal exam.
