When it was go time.. did you freshen up?

Ladies!

All I think about lately is when we will make that dash to the hospital.. if I am sleeping or not really "ready"... will I think I have time to prep? Freshen up? I don't want this to sound vain - It's just been on my mind!

My bff said she freshened up mid labor and off they went.. some say they take a shower and then go.. others mad dash it... what did you do!?

There is no reason you need to rush or hurry to the hospital. Early labor is usually many hours long. Take your time, eat a meal, take a long warm relaxing bath, etc. You will be much more comfortable spending early labor in your own home.

I took a bath, shaved my legs, dried my hair, etc before I went to the hospital.

I teach all my moms to remember 5 - 1- 1 AND a change in the moms mood.

When your contractions are 5 minutes apart, lasting for a minute, and happening for over one hours and you have a change in your mood (not happy or excited and now in pain) then it is time to go to the hospital.

You're so cute... With my son, I was induced.. without notice.. had a check up on a Friday at noon and was told that I needed to go right to hospital... But I had freshened up for my appointment..

My daughter came fast and hard in the middle of the night... I couldn't have cared less what I looked like as I was having major contractions 2 minutes a part pretty much right away...

I WILL Say this though.. For BOTH kids.. around their due date, I did a spray tan.. lol.. I' awfully pale and freckly and it's one of those things that I'm insecure about and always feel better about myself when I have a little color.. So, I WAS prepared for that..

But other than that, I didn't..

I DO think you will have time.. it's not vanity.. ti's preparation knowing that during you won't give a crap about it, so why you CAN give crap.. get some gloss on.. :)

I think you will be great... have a bag packed and some extra makeup or facial wipes, etc in every bag and you can do it on the way there or the many hours you will wait in the bed..

Funny Story.. One of my best friends had her first baby a year ago.. and she's that person that always has her face on.. never too much, but never leaves the house without..

SO.. she calls me with her first contraction and I tell her to wait it out, but she panics and goes to the hospital.. and they check her in. but then she slowed and she's there for HOURS.. waiting.. but her home was too far to go.. etc...

SO, anyway.. I come to see her and she had been there for 8 hours and when I waled into the room, I was like. WTF.. she had FULL stage makeup on... I asked her what she was thinking and she had been so bored that she just kept applying..

Cut to 5 hours later,, she gives birth and I come in the room and her makeup is literally melted ALL OVER.. she looked like a sad, drunken clown...

Of course I have pictures and had them blown up for her...

So.. becarefull.. Get your spray tan on.. or whatever it is that makes you FEEL the best.. and go have that baby...

If my water broke before we were ready to go to the hospital, I showered. That's all I can remember. It's funny that I wanted to be clean so I could get "dirty" or "bloody" again, but I did. :)
